Bomb, Bomb Iran

Terrorist organisations are not concerned with how they will be viewed by history. They do not care if they are seen as the good guys or bad guys. They do not worry about sanctions. They do not bow to international pressure. And they are more than willing to kill themselves to achieve their goals. Most countries with nuclear weapons will never use them against anybody. Even Iran and North Korea are debatable. But I have absolutely no doubt that the terrorists friendly to Iran would use any weapons they had in a heartbeat. This should scare people awake far more than anything Ahmadinejad, Netanyahu or anybody running for America’s presidency could ever say.

Iran may or may not ever attack us. But their friends absolutely will.

One of the things that intrigues me about Iran hating Israel so much, is that Iran and Israel don't even share a common physical border. I pulled up Google Earth to measure the distance between the countries, and its about 600 miles! And no country between Israel and Iran is really friendly towards Israel, so that just goes to show part of Iranian leaders insane level of paranoia.

there will not be heroes here. and history will sort of end i guess, unless Iran backs down after it is attacked. I suppose then the palestinian issue will not be that important.

Will Iran ever love Israel one day? Maybe. People are strange. Saudis hate Iran and want to see them gone as well. I am not sure that. they would not encourage Israel and perhaps let them fly their planes over their territory like they did for Iraq.

In the end, Iran is a very big and populous country capable of a sustained war. Israel is small and contained and is technically capable of a short bloody fight. Iran can absorb many hits and before the last big one happens the world will intervene.

No heroes. Reminds me of cummings.

i will disagree a bit with you. I think, as does most of the intelligence community, that the current regime is much more rational than the religious rulers in iran.

It is in the us interest that iran continue spending its money on weapons and to deflect turning this money to social expenditure since this would promote validating the regime. At the same time, while the US will continue to support israel, it is after all its biggest aircraft carrier in the region, it does not want israel to start a new war that could end up a conflagation despite all the pressue that is put on the usa by say, saudi arabia that would love to see the end of iran. most israelis, 80 per cent do not support a war with iran. Iran is still a pretty big place with important support from china and russia. iran is surrounded by 5 countries who have nuclear capability and wants to be number one. There is a lot of worrying ahead.

The american presidency is turning on the price of gas. somewhere, something has to give that will allow the world some assurance that gas will continue to flow through the hormuz and from iran. canada has lost its pipeline to the usa and is building a new one to the west coast to send the same oil to china. so the me continues to be critical to the us strategic interests in the area, and as a result, i cannot see them supporting israel in the actual bombing and without us support in the effort, israel cannot bomb.

Iran's hatred of Israel has nothing to do with borders. It's simply easier to keep a dictatorship going if you have somebody to blame all your problems on.

Saudi Arabia has already asked Israel to bomb Iran. They have also asked the US to bomb Iran and, if rumours can be believed, they have even asked China. I don't think there's any country that Saudi Arabia hates more than Iran.

Iran's ability to survive a long drawn out war is irrelevant once nuclear weapons are an option.

I don't think Israel will care one way or another about what the US says if it has decided to attack Iran. For all that Americans talk about Israel only doing what the US wants, there is a long history of Israel not at all doing what the US wants.
