That sunset picture is beautiful. I've always been a fan of the more offbeat travel pictures, not the obvious things. I can still remember going to Disney World as a kid, and there were Kodak sponsored signs at various parts of the park indicating to tourists that this would be a good place to take a picture. My father (because he is that sort of person) always got out his camera and snapped away. Even as a kid, I thought that was silly and boring.
We have a lot of Cambodians living here in Vancouver, and I would much rather eat Cambodian food than McDonalds. *gag*
It looks like a very interesting place, and quite different from where I live, but I don't know about swimming in that brown water. It looks suspicious to me. But put kids together with a swimming hole, and they will have fun.
Brown water doesn't mean dirty water. The 2 rivers that give birth to the Amazon river are black and brown. I don't know anything about Cambodian food but I wouldn't mind giving it a try. As for McDonalds, well, it's still feeding poor people in USA. What would these people eat? It's cheap fast food meal, as unhealthy as those French dishes full of butter. In Brazil, McDonalds is delicious, very fresh, big sandwiches, many options, the taste of the hamburger is different, the meal is expensive, the opposite of McDonalds in US. In fact, people don't eat McDonalds everyday because we believe real food is supposed to be cooked at home. I like those clouds but the obvious tourist places tell a little bit of the history of the place for uneducated tourists. Clouds can't tell people why the country is the way it is.
Brown water isn't necessarily dirty but the Bassac flows from the Mekong which is one of the dirtiest rivers in the world thanks to China using it as an industrial sewer.
Poor Americans would be better off eating healthy food. It's not only healthier but ultimately cheaper than any extra value meal.

They've had more problems with their neighbours than with the Americans.
