We Kissed As Though Nothing Could Fall

The soldiers we deal with are not necessarily heroes either. The current trend is to call all soldiers heroes but most just do a routine job. David’s job is anything but routine. If the day comes when he has to jump on the proverbial grenade then he will be a hero. I would rather that never happen. He would be called a hero but I would be too selfish to see it that way. If anybody told me he saved lives I would point out that he has also taken lives, so it all balances out. Some of the soldiers who actually sacrifice their own lives to save others have also killed others. There is nothing heroic about putting a bullet in your enemy’s brain.

presumably if confronted with the situation you would be in a better position to determine when the absolute moment arrives to decide to abandon a life to save your own. you have the advantage of all of those things you mention, i.e. training and a good sense of limits. with this however, i would jump ship well before you and as such your training has allowed you to be more heroic than me. note that i am not calling you a hero which is a noun.

PS- i just figured out your convention. here is proof.

I, I will be king
And you, you will be queen
Though nothing will drive them away
We can beat them, just for one day
We can be heroes, just for one day

And you, you can be mean
And I, I'll drink all the time
'Cos we're lovers and that is a fact
Yes we're lovers and that is that

Though nothing will keep us together
We could spend time, just for one day
We can be heroes for ever and ever
What d'you say?

I, I wish you could swim
Like the dolphins, like dolphins can swim
Though nothing, nothing will keep us together
We can beat them, for ever and ever
Oh we can be heroes, just for one day

I, I will be king
And you, you will be queen
Though nothing will drive them away
We can be heroes, just for one day
We can be us, just for one day

I, I can remember (I remember)
Standing, by the wall (by the wall)
And the guards shot above our heads (over our heads)
And we kissed, as though nothing could fall (nothing could fall)
And the shame, was on the other side
Oh we can beat them, for ever and ever
Then we could be heroes, just for one day

We can be heroes (x3)
Just for one day
We can be heroes
We're nothing and nothing will help us
We knew you're lying
Then you better not stay
When can be heroes just for one day
Oh oh oh oh (repeat to fade)

Training makes all the difference in the world. Few people can naturally make all the right decisions all the time. It takes a lot of training and experience just to make some of the right decisions most of the time.
