North to the Future

An interesting sequence was where Palin and the mother with eight children went to a firing range to practise shooting at bear targets. Just in case. As if their only line of defence was Sarah Palin and the mother with eight children.

The mother with eight children had never handled a firearm and made that fact perfectly clear. She genuinely seemed not to know what the instructor was talking about. But much has been made of Palin’s shooting at wolves from aircraft. Ignoring the fact that hunters generally consider this cowardly and point out that it is what poachers do, it takes a certain level of skill to hit a running animal from a moving aircraft. When Palin was at the firing range she could not hit the side of a bullet with a barn.

Worse than her aim was that she did not know the difference between a cartridge in the magazine or in the chamber. This is a very important safety distinction that everybody should know before they even touch a firearm. Every hunter in the world knows the difference. She also seemed overly concerned about recoil. This is something an experienced hunter would never worry about.

Fabricated Controversies

So when you say your colleagues are fucking retarded because they do not vote your way then you are actually insulting children with developmental issues. And of course their parents. We can’t forget them. They are the real heroes.

Did Sarah Palin just call the Democrats retarded? That is very clever if that was her intent.

Sarah Palin

Is Palin experienced enough to be vice president? That’s ironic when Obama supporters ask. Does she have any foreign policy experience? Did Reagan, Carter, Clinton or Bush have any? Maybe Bush is a bad example. Why doesn’t she do interviews? Frankly I’m glad she doesn’t. I see enough of these people already.

Would I vote for her? No, I’d vote for one of the presidential candidates. I don’t think the vice presidential candidate is that important. People say McCain’s old so she could become president. That’s as insulting as saying Obama’s black so Biden could become president. They’re both true but why is it ok to say an old guy in good health could drop dead at any time but it’s bad to say a black president might be assassinated in such a divisive country?

Poor Joe Biden. Nobody talks about him.

By Popular Demand: The Accident Story

As it turned out I landed against the wind. Combined with the rotation that tilted the aircraft left and it hit on side. Had I landed on the right side I wouldn’t have made it. I didn’t “crash”. The NTSB called it an “uncontrolled descent and impact with terrain”. They really hate the word crash. That impact left me with 16 broken bones, a bruised lung, torn ligaments and a body full of sore muscles. The lid’s the only thing that kept my head in one piece and even though the harness ultimately failed it kept my spine intact. Too many pilots dismiss safety gear as uncomfortable and unnecessary. I credit it with saving my life.
