Blame It On Rio

If you live on this planet you have probably heard that Rio de Janeiro will be hosting the Olympics in 2016. If you live on another planet I hope that I am not your only source of information about us. I cannot handle that responsibility. But maybe reading me would give you better insight into humans than watching TV. Especially Pop Idol. That one would instigate the invasion for sure.

I can’t tell you how cross I would be if I was an intergalactic slave working at the human organ mining colony because of crap TV. But if you are learning about us from the internet then you should probably know that we are not all that angry or watch that much porn.

Dogs: Chewing everything and howling at the moon.
Cats: String and looking at you with contempt.
Humans: Porn and angry rants.

Reasons why Rio and not the others

- Rio's Panamerican games 2007 were sucessfull

- Brazilian economy is the 10th of the world and becoming more and more stable (The world crisis affected very little Brazilian economy and the BRICS)

- The violence in Rio is dropping. It doesn't mean it doesn't exist but it's just dropping and more money will be used to fight the violence.

- The world cup 2014 is a big event. The city of Rio de Janeiro will be the heart of the World Cup. The Final will be at the legendary Maracanã stadium. If Brazil can host the world cup, why not the Olympic Games? The World Cup is a bigger event because it involves the whole country. Many cities will host many games. Countries will stay in different cities.

- South American has never had the Olympic games before.

- Rio's bid was not the best but it was good enough to win.

- The president of Brazil has been working on Rio 2016 for more than 2 years. We can't say the same about Obama. He just appeared to support Chicago at the very last minute.

- It seems nobody wanted Madrid to win. Chicago wouldn't win because according to one IOC member "we can't give the symbol of peace to a country that is at war". US is still in Iraq.

- The population of Japan didn't support the Olympic Games

It was Rio's time.

Americans said that the IOC only remembers USA when they need money. The world changed and they can't accept it. The money is not in USA only. The money is all around the world including Brazil that is not a 3rd world poor country anymore. Spain, for example, has MANY companies in Brazil and they will make money with the Olympic Games. Everybody will make money, not only Rio and cariocas.

One Chicagoan said "The world will miss culture, history and a beautiful lake".

This is what bothers me about Americans. They didn't get real yet. They think they are the only ones that can offer everything to the world.

Rio has culture, history and more than a beautiful lake. It has beautiful lakes and beaches what will make things easier for aquatic sports.

Rio is the only city of Americas that was the capital of one European country. When the royal family of Portugal came to Brazil they moved the capital of Portugal to Rio.
Anyone interested in history will see history walking in the streets of Rio. Rio is not a plastic city. It has history and soul.

Everybody in South America is happy for Rio, even the jealous Argentina.

If South Afrikan world cup is successfull, and it will be, South Afrika will probably be the next country to make history.

I know how you feel. I really don't care about football but I was still very proud when they announced the World Cup in RSA. I'm sure we won't win but who cares? Just hosting these games is an amazing achievement for our usually overlooked continents.

Olympics was good for China. I hope it can be good for Brazil too. It should happen in Africa but the men who control the power want to keep it on themselves.
