Commands Met

Don’t covet your neighbor's wife or property.

Check. My neighbour’s wife is attractive but I can keep my distance. As for property I’ve never been the type of person who gets jealous because somebody has better toys. People tell me I don’t have enough worldly goods. I think I have too much.

I think you're doing pretty well, and far better than most of humanity. Of course, that's not saying much, I realize.

All religions tell you what to believe. That is why I am atheist.

When I got married, it was a requirement that I convert from being an Anglican to being a Catholic. Since they are almost the same, I didn't think it would be a problem. I had to go for instructions with the priest, Father Belanger. After a few weeks he finally said to me, "You'll never be a good Catholic, you ask too many questions."

But, like you, I think I keep at least most of the ten commandments. Any more of them, and I might be getting into treacherous waters. :-)

Good one Sasha. I'm not atheist, I believe there is something huge and I only believe because I had one almost death experience. A skinny 6 year old who didn't know how to swin couldn't fight against the violent waves and save herself. The beach was empty and there were not safe guards. There is something after life, that's all I know. A voice said "It's not your time, go" and I felt two huge hands in my back pushing me against the waves until I was able to feel the sand and walk to a safer place.

My mother grew up in a nun school, she is Roman Catholic and my childhood was hell. I had to go to the church every Sunday to hear a stranger calling me a sinner. I'm not a sinner because of Jesus choices. I will never understand why people follow the religion of their parents without questioning it. My problem is not the religious beliefs. People believe in what they want as long as they reach their conclusions thinking for themselves.

Alissa, I think I'm probably somewhere in the middle.

Sasha, atheism is a belief system.

Jo, Jews are the opposite. We're encouraged to ask questions. Children asking questions is an integral part of the Pesach seder. I've never met a rabbi who wants ignorant Jews.

Michelle, I've never understood the Christian idea of sin. I don't see how we're all born sinners before we've even done anything good or bad.
