Military Censorship

There's a distinction between censorship and discretion.

The thing that disturbs me about wikileaks is that they appear to be releasing information not for any particular public interest, but just to prove they can. While the latest release was mostly confirmation of what was already known, I'm not sure that I trust online activists to make the call on whether the release of information benefits democracy or endangers lives. I'm sure that rape charge was a warning shot. He's going to make a lot of enemies.

Well said. I don't want anyone telling me what I can and cannot say, but at the same time I wouldn't publish something that could be damaging to an employer, or anyone. Sometimes the problem with the internet is that people forget how public and permanent the information they post there is. I'm lucky to not have access to any sort of classified information, but there also a lot of things I know about others both personally and professionally that I will not be sharing with the rest of the world because no good would come of it.
