One Big Bantustan

Zuma's base

When apartheid died some apologists feared the most morally corrupt criminals would soon take over. Turns out they were right.

Way back in the day when I also wore turtleshell glasses, I was on the line up against angry crowds much less fierce than these folks pictured here although I recognize the anger in the faces. We (Canada) were expropriating folks along the dunes of New Brunswick to make room for a National Park (Kouchibouguac). While the area was mainly empty, there were in fact a number of Acadian fishermen who still lived there and they would not leave. Their stand excited the folks so when moving day came, the neighbours from everywhere attended.

At the end, the authorities who started all the trouble ran away and we got the call. The "battle" lasted many days and I was actually injured by flying glass. (I slipped and fell on parts of a broken window). I hurt my knee and wherever it was that I fell upon. (Made for interesting scar stories back in my unmarried days). Nota: I read that the people we expropriated have since moved back and were compensated for the forced removals.

Duty eh. I used to be a member of the RCMP and did riot duty, gave out drivers licences, delivered federal checks and even one baby, destroyed feral dogs, herded cattle, gave out treaty money to indians, patrolled the seas and roads and even saluted the Queen when she came while I was on executive guard duty. I never encounted a spider worth remembering though so you have one up on me. And the flying of course... and kayaking...and helicopters... and movie making... but other than that... We were polyvalent back in the day of hornrimmed glasses.
